6004MF II

Instrotech, a Comtest Group company, has announced the launch of their latest multi-function weighing transmitter, the model 6004MF version II. It’s a powerful, compact, field-mounted unit that can be selected for a variety of weighing functions. Specifically designed for servicing organizations, weighing equipment manufacturing companies and individual users, the 6004MF is a single electronic unit that can be used for almost any application in the weighing industry. The 6004MF finds application in the areas of loadcell transmitting, belt-weighing, loss-in-weight transmitter, through-put weighing, bag-filling, batch-weighing and a dynamo meter. A multi-function unit allows the user to keep one spare that can replace any of the above-mentioned functions in the field. This also reduces the stock holding requirements for manufacturers, integrators and factories.

The 6004MF weighing transmitter is housed in a rugged, powder-coated, cast aluminum housing with a splash proof keypad. It features a clear 20mm 6-digit LED main display and auxiliary information LCD display, with user- programmable function keys, digital inputs and relay outputs.

The 6004MF uses the popular and powerful ARM (Advanced RISC Machine) microprocessor with integral clock and USB I/O port. Programming, set-up and calibration is via the keypad and backlit LCD. It features precalibration of sensitivity and range, zero trim and deadweight span trim. Also, a 15-point lineariser, min-max hold, auto-zero maintenance and preset tare. The 6004MF features PI control with auto-manual setpoints, bumpless transfer and anti-reset wind-up. There is a SD Card Bootloader for remote internet firmware updates and program specials. The 6004MF allows for various inputs, including loadcell, incremental encoder and six digital. It also features a standard isolated analog output of 1-5/0-10Volts or 0/4 – 20mA.

Options for the 6004MF include:

• Programmable 2,4 or 6 plug & play, electromechanical or photomos output relays

• Serial ASCII outputs on RS232 or RS485, plug & play option cards

• SD memory card for data logging

Version II of the 6004MF has an improved and simplified user menu interface and operation service manual, as well as much improved EMI immunity. Design technicians have also improved on the standard SD card functionality for fast on-site internet software upgrades with remote registration. While busy, they also vastly improved the on-board PI control and the on-board system diagnostic information and simulation.

Process Calibrators		Loadcells and Weighing Electronics
	CALOG calibrators are a group of rugged, hand-held, precision devices for mA loop calibration, process calibration including frequency & counts, thermocouple temperature calibration, RTD calibration, pressure calibration and the unique CALOG LOADCELL which can be used for loadcell evaluation, insulation tests and field calibration.		From a broad experience of using loadcells and weighing electronics in the process control environment Instrotech has designed and manufactured weigh indicators and loadcell transmitters, both din-rail and fieldmount, for over twenty years. These have successfully been installed in many factories, particularly the food industry, for Nestle, Unilever, Coca Cola and SAB Miller to name a few. These products have also been namebranded for such well known companies as Avery Berkel in the UK and Weightronics in USA. The latest 6004 loadcell transmitter can also do beltweighing, dynamometer, loss-of-weight, bag-filling, throughput and batching.
Digital Indicators		Level and Flow
	There are twenty basic models of digital indicators including inputs for process, temperature, frequency/counting, quadrature, time, serial, BCD, loadcell, dynamometer and beltweigher. Options, either in software or hardware, include up to four relay or photomos setpoints, analogue or digital retransmission, integration and linearisation. The standard size is 48x96 but mini indicators and extra-large displays are also manufactured. Namebranding is available to larger customers and special digital indicators can be designed.		Instrotech manufactures a displacement level transmitter using a solid PTFE displacer suspended from a loadcell with a unique overload mechanism to prevent damage. This displacement level transmitter is suitable for level measurement in mining flotation cells as well as density and interface measurement. Keller submersible pressure transmitters are available with our linearised 'S' curve digital indicators for horizontal cylindrical tanks. We supply Kobold German made flowmeters and flow transmitters from geared flowmeters to calorific flow transmitters. The USA made Senix ultrasonic level transmitters can be used for a variety of level and open channel flow applications.
Accoustic Leak detection systems		Encoders
	In 1984 we produced our first acoustic leak detection system for boiler tube leak detection on large coal-fired power stations. This system uses up to 32 specially designed microphones around the boiler for early warning and localisation of tube leaks. The INSPECTA-FFT is now fitted to power stations, oxygen plants and gassifiers world-wide. The latest systems have SCADA and internet access.		Rotary encoders of SIKO operate according to the optical or magnetic sensing principle. Incremental pitches of a code disk are gathered by an opto-electronic or magnetic sensing unit and converted into electronic pulses. The measured output signals serve for computing the angle of rotation. Combined with matching follower electronics, angles, distances and speeds can be measured. Angle encoders, also known as absolute rotary encoders, measure angles of rotation absolutely and directly. They are suitable for a wide range of highly specialised and demanding areas of use.
